Fall School

Get back into skating by registering for Fall School which runs through September for a 4 week periods. This is for STARSkate and Competitive skaters only. Canskate is not offered on this session.

 

Winter Session

Our winter session starts early October for all levels of skating and runs through to mid March.

 

Skate Thunder Bay

This competition is hosted by our club at the Port Arthur Arena and usually falls in early December. Skaters from all over Northwestern Ontario participate in this event.

 

Mini Comp

Mini Comp if a fun group activity and Christmas party for all STARSkaters held just before Christmas break. Participating skaters are placed in 3 groups, each with 2 captains. The captains choose music and the skaters choreograph their own routine. Each group is given their own ice time while the other teams work off the ice. Routines are presented before a panel of judges (parents) and the winning team is featured on our Mini Comp Wall of Fame. Afterwards, lunch and snacks are provided all in a festive Christmas atmosphere!

Thunder Bay Open

Thunder Bay Open is a competition hosted by Thunder Bay Figure Skating Club and Fort William Figure Skating Club and falls anywhere from the end of February or into early March. This competition is held at the Thunder Bay Tournament Centre which features 2 ice surfaces. Skaters from all over Northwestern Ontario participate in this event.

 

Ice Show

The Ice Show is a choreographed on ice extravaganza which features all interested skaters from the past season. A full range of skaters are featured, from our young skaters learning to skate right up to our experienced senior skaters. This is a wonderful opportunity for spectators to view the accomplishments of all our skaters!

 

Year End Awards Banquet and AGM

This is a night where our skaters get to dress up and shine as they are awarded trophies and certificates for all their accomplishments from the past season. The evening includes supper, awards ceremony, penny auction, draws and a dance party complete with DJ for the skaters. During the dance party, parents attend our Annual General Meeting to discuss club business and choose a new Board of Directors for the following skating season. This usually falls the week after Ice Show.

Spring School

Skaters get to enjoy a one week break after the Ice Show and then Spring School starts. This session runs for 4 weeks starting the end of April and runs into May.
